Fatwa Issued Against Bin Laden
Instapundit noted this as a "
Heh" yesterday, and I thought the link would lead to Srappleface.
Even better... it's for real. The Islamic Commission of Spain [corrected from "Spanish Islamic Cleric", mea culpa] issued the Fatwa which said that, among other things, bin Laden is an apostate. (I wonder if he can be ex-communicated?) :)
The link is to
California Yankee who quotes the article, and has this to add:
American Muslims would have made a lot of points in the U.S., and helped the War Against Terrorism, had they done something like this after 9-11.
Sad to say, this does hurt the credibility of American Muslims.
UPDATE: LGF
notes something that the AP article left out:
The Commission has also drawn up a document designed to ?thank the Spanish people and the government for their attitude towards Muslims? since last March 11, in particular for not taking ?disproportionate? measures similar to those which the Sept 11 attacks sparked in the US.
I don't know (literally) if that's equivalent to thanking Spain for "caving in after the Madrid train bombings" as Charles suggests. But I wonder what else the Commission has been saying lately?
My point still stands though, this doesn't reflect well on the Islamic organizations in America, or its members who don't seem to be calling for such a rebuke either.

Jeff, I agree with you. There has not been enough outrage from the Muslim community. I wonder what motivates the homocide bombers in Iraq. To kill yourself, and others just to cause chaos does not seem like a very useful purpose.
Hey Jeffy - is there a reason why we can't access Mom's blog? Or is it just me?
I've thought about your entry for quite a while. I agree.
Jeff, How come we never hear from the blogmaster? Your wisdom and humor are most missed.

http://kenwoodexcelon.com At the age of eleven, I began Euclid, with my brother as my tutor. This was one of the great events of my life, as dazzling as first love. I had not imagined there was anything so delicious in the world. From that moment until I was thirty-eight, mathematics was my chief interest and my chief source of happiness.
