A blog for ya
The official
Serenity movie site had a blog, with posts from Joss and Nathan Fillion, and other folks working on the movie. No one has posted since Joss' wrap-up post back in September. But it's fun to read:
Joss is the master at blending genres. If you don't think that Barbara Streisand bludgeoning Mal with a compressor coil, stepping over his bloody corpse and bursting into "You don't bring me flowers," all within the first ten minutes of the movie, will be believable AND further the plot, urine for a treat.
Go check it out.
For the uninitiated: (1) Serenity is a movie treatment of the fantabulous yet short-lived Firefly TV show; and (2) Go
get initiated, it's a fun show and great science fiction. (Note that there are a couple R-rated moments in the DVD version.)

I really enjoyed the series on TV. But I'm only cautiously optimistic about the movie... Joss and Nathan F. had both stated that they were happy about the movie format because they could go 'darker' places than they could on TV. The TV stuff was about as dark as I could stand - don't know if I can watch it if it's MORE...
Tara,
Was Buffy and Angel as dark? Was the writing as clever and fun to watch? Some of the darkness on the show was too much for me. But the dialogue and cleverness really hooked us and we couldn't get enough of it. The show was over far too soon.
Sometimes... Buffy, the first 3 seasons were the most delightful - full of cleverness and pop culture references. I was bored with some of the story arc in Season 4 and 5 -though there were some very powerful episodes scattered throughout. Season 6 and 7 were mostly depressing. (I don't really recommend those).
Angel took awhile to gel as a series - it was more 'serious' (but still with a sense of humor) and 'adult'. By Season 5 it was pretty amazing. Everyone was stunned when the WB cancelled it - it was just hitting it's stride. It could have easily gone on another year or two.
Overall, I think Firefly was a bit more interesting, and definately darker than the other two. If you haven't seen the first couple of seasons of Buffy, I think you'd enjoy them. If you like those, then try out Angel (it starts up at the end of the 3rd season of Buffy).
http://dawsonanddadrealty.com Look at what Christ said about sin. The sins of the flesh. He said that a man who had looked after a woman lustfully had sinned as much as the man who had seduced her. How absurd! If a man in good health does not experience some kind of sexual reaction when he sees an attractive woman, there is something wrong with him. Paul said some wicked things, but Christ started it.
http://kenwoodexcelon.com Christianity taught that men ought to be as chaste as pagans thought honest women ought to be; the contraceptive morality teaches that women need to be as little chaste as pagans thought men need be.
